The XM158, a seven-tube, reloadable rocket launcher, was designed to fire the iconic 2.75-inch Mk 4 Folding-Fin Aerial Rocket (FFAR), also known as “Mighty Mouse.” Originally developed in the late 1940s as an air-to-air weapon, the FFAR evolved into an air-to-ground system, especially effective in helicopter gunships like the UH-1C during the Vietnam War era. The FFAR’s raw power and area impact made it invaluable in combat, despite its lack of guidance accuracy.

This model kit replicates the XM158 pods as they were used on UH-1C gunships, which often replaced their round XM157 rocket pods with the exposed, replaceable XM158 tubes for easier field maintenance.
